Accessibility
This website is designed so every resident can use it — regardless of ability, device, or connection.
The Village of Birchbay is committed to providing services and information in ways that respect the dignity and independence of people with disabilities, consistent with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
This website
This website is built to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA:
- Full keyboard navigation, with visible focus indicators and a skip-to-content link;
- Colour contrast meeting or exceeding AA ratios throughout;
- Semantic structure and landmarks for screen readers;
- Responsive text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of function;
- Reduced-motion support for users who prefer it;
- Alternative text on meaningful images.
We test with automated tools and with real keyboards and screen readers. If any page falls short, that's a defect and we want to know: contact us or call 613-555-0142.
Alternate formats
Municipal documents are available in accessible or alternate formats on request, within the timelines set out in the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. There is no charge beyond the regular cost (if any) of the document.
Feedback
Feedback on the accessibility of Village services can be provided in person, by phone, by mail, or through the contact form. Feedback is directed to the Clerk and acknowledged within five business days.
