Visit Birchbay
An easy drive and a world away. Here's how to spend a perfect day on Loon Lake.
Morning
Arrive early and walk Harbour Street while the mist is still on the water. Coffee and a cinnamon bun from the bakery, then browse the Saturday Farmers' Market on the Village Green (May through Thanksgiving) — produce, preserves, and the butter tarts people genuinely drive an hour for.
Afternoon
- Get on the water. Rent a canoe or kayak at the town dock, or bring your own — the launch is free for day visitors.
- Walk the Loon Lake Loop — 4.5 km of shoreline and pine forest, with lookout benches at the narrows.
- Swim at Pinegrove Beach — supervised in July and August, with a playground for the small people in your crew.
Evening
Fish and chips on the dock, ice cream on the Green, and if you time it right, one of the best sunsets in Eastern Ontario. Check the events page — Canada Day fireworks, the August Loon Lake Regatta, and the September Fall Fair are the big weekends.
Getting here & staying
