At a special meeting held April 28, Council adopted the Village's 2026 operating and capital budget.
Highlights:
- Overall levy increase of 2.9% — approximately $7.10 per month for the average residential property;
- Mill Street culvert replacement and resurfacing of two sections of Lakeshore Road;
- Continued contributions to the water and wastewater reserve, keeping rates stable through 2028;
- New accessibility improvements at the Community Hall entrance;
- Support maintained for the library, the volunteer fire department, and community events.
"This budget keeps Birchbay's infrastructure sound without losing sight of what residents can afford," said Mayor Edith Cranmore. "Council worked hard to find that balance."
