Water & Sewer
Safe, tested drinking water and reliable wastewater service for the Village core.
Your drinking water
The Village operates a municipal drinking water system serving properties in the Village core, monitored and tested in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. The most recent Annual Water Quality Report is available from the Municipal Office.
Seasonal water main flushing takes place each spring — watch the News & Notices page for the schedule.
Billing
Water and sewer are billed quarterly (March, June, September, December). Bills can be paid:
- By pre-authorized payment (sign up at the Municipal Office);
- At most Canadian financial institutions, in person or through online banking (payee: "Birchbay (Village) — Utilities");
- By cheque or debit at the Municipal Office, 12 Harbour Street.
Service emergencies
Water main break, sewer backup, or no water? Call the after-hours emergency line: 613-555-0199. During office hours call 613-555-0142.
Private wells & septic
Properties outside the serviced area are on private wells and septic systems. The County health unit offers free well-water testing kits; pick-up and drop-off at the Municipal Office every Tuesday.
